Dorothy J. Prawdzik

Dorothy Jean Prawdzik, age 89 of Clare, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Pioneer Golden Estates in Clare. Dorothy was born the daughter of Martin J. and Mary (Pesarcyk) Beer, Sr., on June 6, 1936, in Petoskey. At a polka dance in Gaylord, Dorothy met the love of her life, Thomas Prawdzik. Their chance meeting blossomed into a marriage that lasted more than 57 years. They were united in marriage on May 17, 1958, in Petoskey. Together they built a life on faith, family, friendship and adventure. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on September 18, 2015. Dorothy was a dedicated volunteer at the Clare Hospital for over 30 years. She took great pleasure spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved preserving many family traditions such as the Boyne Falls Polish Festival, going to family reunion and celebrating holidays with family. Dorothy was a woman of many interests and talents. She enjoyed painting, crafting, shopping, traveling, snowshoeing, hiking and tending to her flower gardens. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Hope Parish where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. Thou Dorothy will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in the countless memories she created, the values she instilled, and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she touched and the family she treasured so dearly. Dorothy leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, David (Ann) Prawdzik of Clare, Debbie (Kevin) Singles of Lake Orion and Dennis (Beth) Prawdzik of Lake Orion; her sister Mary Ellen Enos of Cheboygan, MI and her brother Richard Beer of Buford, GA. She was a proud grandmother to Jodie (Donny) Whitehead, Kyle Singles, Justin (Kelsey) Prawdzik, Ryan (Molly) Singles, Megan (Adam) Huckins and Tyler (Katie) Singles. She was a beloved great grandmother to Avery, Eve, Addie, and Logan. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Martin Beer, Jr., Theresa Kargol and Ron Beer. Visitation and services will be held at Our Lady of Hope Parish on Thursday, June 4, 2026. A Rosary will begin at 9:30 A.M. followed by visitation at 10 A.M. and a Funeral Mass to be held at 11 A.M. with Monsignor Francis Koper officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) or Our Lady of Hope Parish.
